Hey guys I have a question im sure someone could answer...Im starting a project soon and im curious about some stuff...correct me if im wrong, but wont a supercab with a short bed fit on a standard cab longbed frame? i think its pretty close... thanks
Nope. Not without extensive mods.....which includes shortening the bed.
To be more specific, the regular cab frame begins to rise, just past the floor boards. A Supercab frame has a longer flat spot underneath the cab. Putting a Supercab body on a reg cab frame would require cutting the floor out of the rear of the cab.....and custom mounts. Or, put on a 3 inch body lift, and still make custom mounts......but not have to cut the cab quite so much.
Sadly, no. The difference is a whole wopping 5.5". I just did this project to my truck last June. I opted to extend the frame 5.5" as to cutting my flareside, and i wouldnt cut a bed down to do this anyway as by time you do, the bed is so short the truck looks kinda retarded. Hillbilly is right about the frame ramping up also. A 2" body lift and refabing the origional cab mount crossmember will clear ya, or just go 3". I built my own super cab mounts, and to get the cab level on the frame with the rear mounts even with the top of the frame mine is sitting on 3" under the core support and front of the cab with a 1" in the back. I am planning on rebuilding the crossmember and dropping the inch. I you have anymore questions, lemme know. Mike
