High EGT's ???

High EGT's ???

My truck is running quite hot with this new motor and Jody's standard tunes for stage 1's. We've takin the fuel out of th etunes and that just got me no power and lower boost numbers. So... why is this thing running hot. I'm going to put my 6.0L intercooler in so I hope that helps a bit. The truck always ran hot with my original motor and I thought with this new motor it would run cooler with my bellowed up pipes and everything being new, tight and redone ....

Has anybody considered incorporating an idea like this and do you think it would help ???????? Pre-Intercooler Cooling Pipe

Do you think my original intercooler is toast and not working as well as it should ??? Can these intercoolers get heat soaked ????? Ryan is running higher boost numbers than I am with his stock injectors and his EGT's are at least 200-300 deg cooler than mine ! The only difference is his 38R versus my turbonetics. But mine ran hotter than his when we both ran the stock turbo's as well !

Help !

In your case I think it might come down to air flow. If you want and have time, swap turbos with him and see what happens.

Lots of complaints back in the day of Turbonetics and higher EGT's. Especially from those with the non-BB units.

That scam might not have paid off then eh Clay ???? No $$$$ for a 38R either ! With jody's standard tunes this truck can't go over a pass without having to let off... and thats empty ! I need to tow my big enclosed trailer and won't be able to ! the new tunes on 80E I can only get 15psi boost. EGT's are lower... but its brutal that I've got potential of all this power with stage 1 injectors and can't use it ! I loved the way that this thing drove with those tunes... but I can't go up a mountain pass ! I guess I need a new turbo now along with a LPOP !

This truck may get sold yet !

why were my EGT's higher than his when we had the same turbo ??

Give me a call this week. I have a spare stocker with a 1.0 Housing on it I think. Maybe I can loan it to you for a while.

My stocker is at Mark's ! We sent that old POS he had laying around back with that other motor !

since you have always seen higher EGT's have you considered your gauge? If the gauge/probe has always been the constant with different motor's /tunes/turbos etc I would be suspect.

The first tunes that Jody sent me for stage 1's were awesome. I could hit about 25-26 on 80E and 27 on 120race. Thats when I had a slight leak on the map hose. The new tunes he took all the fuel out to try it.... I can only hit 15lbs on 80E ! Now he sent me a 80E tune with a bit more fuel in it.. and I can hit 25psi again... but........ EGT's are high again ! This thing is pissing me off big time.. I'm so sick of working on this truck right now, I'd love to drive it off a cliff !

Ya.. I have thought of that ! but I've been through 2 probes on this thing already ! Autometer gauges. I wonder !

I'm thinking like Clem, maybe the gauge is bad? I would throw that 6.0 Intercooler in there, at least it would eliminate any possibilities of the stocker being the problem and it will help to boot.

I agree Jeff. I was going to do it today but I couldn't find any 1/2" trans hose to do the trans cooler at the same time ! Couldn't even order it in ???

Call BTS, I think they have a kit for pretty cheap.

Going to check with my trans shop tomorrow and see if they have any... I've already got all the elbows made up and I can get the 3/8 trans hose here no problem.. I'll get it done ! Failing that I will buy the kit ! I saw pictures of it and what it consists of... Its pretty simple looking !
