Not so!

High-boy frames have a different frame width behind the cab than non High-boy trucks.

I believe any bed from a High-boy will fit (1973-1977.5). Any other 133" wheelbase bed will require modification.

My recollection (I did the bed swap a number of years ago) is the cabs will swap over just fine. To put a non High-boy bed on a High-boy frame, you will need to relocate one of the under-bed supporting crossmembers a few inches either forward or aft (don't remember) and you will have to drill new holes in the bed (and through the supporting crossmembers) for all the bolts as the High-boy frame is narrower.

It's not very difficult, or time consuming, but you should know what the swap entails.

true. i got a hold of a shortbed off a 2wd crew cab (pre 77.5) and it was a direct bolt on to my highboy crew cab shortbed.

Putting a 73+2wd / 77+ on a highboy does not require moving a bed cm. You do however need to drill new holes in your frame, bed and sleeve the crossmember as your mounting holes will be located outward and a bit to the rear of the original holes. It's damn close but it fits. You will also need to mod the brackets at the rear of the bed as well....can't remember exactly what it was but it was pretty simple mod.

Worked for me anyway.

1973/76 Stylesides have exposed fuel caps. 1977/79 Stylesides have fuel doors.
