Just bought a F-350 speedometer doesn't work, I got it home went under the truck the cable end was laying next the hole, figured ok now it should work, nothing. Investigated further under the dash the other end wasn't plugged into the back of the speedometer, 1st I manually spun the part that sticks out of the speedo, needle moves. I plugged the cable in it still doesn't work. It seems to be missing something that I would think would hold it to back of the speedo, I'm not that familiar with these year trucks. I don't think theres much on this truck that hasn't been fooled with in some manner, so I'll be ironing out issues for some time, mostly irritating small problems. I know it's not the original Motor or trans, pretty sure it's a older T-18 the reverse is over right and up. It has a 400 that actually runs great and holding good oil pressure. If anybody has a pic of what is supposed to be there or a drawing, or has ideas of what else could be the problem definitely apprec.

mine works half the time, ill be going 60 down the road and then itll just start working. havent really done any checking on it though. any ideas on that?
Hmm, Thanks exactly what I was looking for. I think half of that plastic part is missing but I don't think it would keep it from working. May have to find a new cable.

Pull the end that is in the transmision, (5 min to do) the gear might be missing teeth or be broken. The gear should be under 20 bucks, but you need the old one that came out for reference.

I dont remember anything sticking out of the back of the speedo that you can turn. I think that is part of the cable that has broke off and stuck in back of the speedo. Its been a couple years since i had mine off, you might want to pull one off another truck and check.........On the lighter side, reread this post thinking speedo = swim trunks. My wife just pointed that out. LOL
