gas pedal issue
SO... I'm wondering whether the bar the pedal sits on may be from a different year... Can anyone identify/confirm this? Pic below... Help appreciated, Thanks
Trying to use parts numbers and making it work is futile IMHO.
but you do what is best for you

The problem is, the ones that are "correct" for either 65 (it was built Nov 65) or 66 will not fit.
This is...because...you cannot figure out how the parts attach. Figuring out how that pivot spring attaches, can be a PITA for the un-initiated.

It's correct for your truck.
Fits: 1965 F100/250 2WD from serial number 696,001 / 1966 F100/250 2WD.
The pic in the parts catalog agrees with your pic.
1965/66: The pedal assy's steel bracket mounts to the firewall using two bolts // 1967/72's use three mounting bolts, the bracket is cast (pot metal).
1965/66's use an accelerator cable. 1967/72 is different because it uses linkage rods and a bellcrank.
1965/66: The pedal pad attaches to the pedal assy using the crossbar that is part of it.
1967/72: There is no crossbar. The pedal pad attaches to the pedal assy using a screw. The pedal pad has threads where the screw threads on.
You need the correct pedal pad and the pivot spring used behind the pedal pad to keep it in the upright position.
1965/66 F100/250 2WD's use the same pedal pad and pivot spring as 1965/67 Galaxie/LTD's.

I found 17 of these pedal pads and 109 of the springs. If you want to know who has them, let me know.

1967/72's use the exact same pedal pad, mounting screw and pivot spring as 1965/68 Falcon/Fairlane/Comet/Mustang & 1967/68 Cougar & Montego.
What you REALLY need is a picture: You can get one two different ways:
The 1964/72 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for $22.00.
Contact GREEN SALES CO in Cincinnati OH (greensalescompany.com-513-731-3304), and ask them to scan and fax or email the following pics:
1965/66: ILLUSTRATION SECTION 97 / Page 16.
1967/72: ILLUSTRATION SECTION 97 / Page 24.
Having the parts catalog comes in very handy. Since every part is illustrated, the catalog can also be used as an assembly/dis-assembly manual.
There's a coupla of old grouchy fuddy-duddy's that post in these forums (I'm not saying who, but you can prolly guess), that do not think the parts catalog is necessary, but...
If you want the correct info...it IS necessary! With 1961 pages of illustrations...you'll never need to ask for a picture, or ask how the fracatta parts fit...ever again!
Thanks for the numbers, links, and tips. I will definitely order the Master Parts Catalog CD. I agree that I cannot install the damn pedal pad because I don't understand how the spring fits. What REALLY CONFOUNDS ME however, is the fact that the EARS with the holes on the back of the pedal pad are WIDER than the horizontally welded bar on the pedal assembly itself.
If I'm just being a stubborn jackass... I'm sure someone will let me know.
Meanwhile, I'll wait for my parts god cd to arrive.

You can run around the countryside looking for used parts. Maybe you'll find them, maybe you won't.
But..if you do find them...will they be in any better shape after 46 years have passed by...than what you have now? Prolly not.
If you buy new genuine Ford parts, you won't have to worry about it for the next 46 years.
And...with the parts catalog, you can see how the whole tamale fits together.
