I HAVE A 2002 F250 SUPER DUTY WE HAVE REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS, HUB BEARINGS, SHOCKS, SWAY BAR LINKS, ONE SHACKLE ON THE PASS SIDE AND I STILL CAN'T FIND THE THUMP ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, ANYONE SEEN ANYTHING ELSE????????????????
THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY
THE TRUCK HAS 141000 MILES IT PLOWS AND TOWS MY RACE CAR TRAILERS.
I am having the same problem for the longest time. I may have just discovered the problem. Check your driveshaft on the drivers side and see it it moves in and out of the axle tube a little bit. Mine moves about 1/4" with my hands and bangs a little like the bang I hear while driving. Of course while driving at speeds and going over bumps it would cause it to slide a lot quicker and harder and the sound would be more louder. Check yours for movement and let me know what you think. Mine is driving me crazy too almost to the point that I dont even want to drive it anymore until it is resolved.
IIRC a lot of guys where having problems with loose cab bolts a few years ago. Same symptoms you guts are describing and might be something to look at.
Track bar bolts?
I did not see them in your list of replaced parts.
I had a clunk in the front of my 03 Excursion and found that a track bar bolt was loose. BTW, their torque is 450 ft pnds.
Found the problem... After lots of looking and fellows members' help I discovered it is the sway bar bushings. I disconnected the sway bar from the frame links and just let it hang and went for a short ride up and down my street where it used to make a lot of noise is now silent. Ordered a set of replacement bushings from Amazon.com and will install as soon as they arrive. Very easy job to do and it only cost $32.00 and came with free shipping.
Thanks but I already got that link. I read thru it and it should be simple to do. I already have it all taken apart, just waiting on the arrival of the new set so I can put it all back together. Then I am going to install my K&N Cold Air Intake Kit, disassemble and re-lube my auto hubs & my Superchips Cortex tuner should be in by the end of the week and I can tune my truck also. It will all keep me busy for a while. I just wish it was warmer outside here in NH. It is snowing as I am typing this..... ;o(
