I'm replacing the door glass on my '51 f3 ford and I ordered the channel rubber through LMC. What I got was a roll of rubber tape, sticky on one side. How does this get put into the window lift channel and why does there seem to be way more in the roll than what I would need? According to LMC I need one roll to do each window channel. Where does all this tape go...I just thought in the channel itself.
How thick is it? Maybe it's meant to be doubled-up? I got mine from Dennic C and it was a roll that did (as I recall) both window channels and the vent windows.

It's about an 1/8" thick. I would think it would be plenty to do both channels and maybe it has to be doubled up. It just seems like a lot for one window. So does the sticky side stick to the channel? I was thinking I was getting a one piece rubber like the original one that came out of the channel.
I don't think the original was molded to that size/shape, it was tape on a roll, probably machine cut. After all these years it may look moded to the glass, from heat and pressure.
1/8" is about right for a single layer application. Your channel may be opened up. I opened mine up to insert the glass and tape, then gently squeezed the channel tight around it. There were marks on the channel indicating that had been done before (right or wrong!).
