So there is this wire thats just kinda hanging out under the hood of my truck and its driving me nuts...I have no idea what it hooks up to...I looked at the wiring diagrams in my Haynes Repair manual, but its all greek to me.
This is the wire..Its green just in case you can't tell.
This is where it branches off from the rest of the wires. Its travels along the same route that the coil and thermostat wires do.
One possibility is it's the wire for the throttle solenoid.
I'm not home right now so I can't check the color of the wire on my '73 but there is a solenoid that is attatched to the carburetor. It's function is to "kick" the idle up under certain conditions. I believe this to be mostly an emission device.
If you're running a non-stock carb or a different engine chances are the solenoid is long gone and just the wire is left.
I want to get rid of the mud around here. I keep planning on removing the running boards that came on my truck, but every time I have a chance it rains or snows and my driveway (1/2 mile dirt road) turns to mud. I'm OK with getting dirty, but I don't lay in mud and work on the underside of a muddy truck unless its broke
there's one mud pit here, and I used to hit it on my way home from work everyday, then the railroad decided they owned the property, convenient seeing that the closest rails are a mile away.
