Cap 3rd brake light
I just bought a used cap and put it on my 04 ranger this week. Then i went to hook up the 3rd brake light.Is Ford getting DUMBER as the years go on? There is no provision for a 3rd brake light in the tail light harness.
How stupid. the full size F-series had this provision since 94 when the trucks cam w 3rd brake lights. Right now i just have it hacked together into the left brake light(blinks w the turn signal), Until i have time to run a wire from the brake light switch in the cab.

Connecting at the brake light switch to the 3rd brake light is a fairly simple job. My '91 doesn't come with the 3rd stop light but when I replaced the back glass in the cap it came with the light. The hook-up was simple and straight forward, routing the wire from the brake light switch through the firewall, down along the frame,up through the left rear wiring harness to the lamp in the cap. Since the cap is fiberglass, I had to run a second wire as the ground at the back of the bed. I also put a couple of connectors in the bed area so I can disconnect the light when I take the cap off to carry a high or wide load. Not a problem.
