i dont know if you are looking for agun rack for your house or for in your truck. i just wanted to mention that you might want to check with local gun laws about carrying guns in the window of your truck. im pretty sure here in minnesota it is illegal, or i may be wrong. good lukc searching.
I second cabella's. You can get some that mount to the back of your seat, some that mount to the inside of your roof, you can get one or them 'shelf it' visors with a strap for a long gun, or a regular window type. If you just want a regular window type go to a sporting store. They usualy have the ones that slip inbetween the window gasket and glass or the suction cup kind.
i'll probably have to go with the behind the seat mounts. i didn't really want a suction cup mount, i don't have the window molding that is required for the ones that wally world sells, and i'm 6'4" so a ceiling mount is just screaming pain.
Do not mount a gun in a rear window mount. I had an acquaintance who had an AR-15 in a window mount when he hit a parked car. The rifle hit him in the back of the neck crippling him for life. He wouldn't have been hurt all that bad except for the blow on the neck. I had a rack that mounted over the sunvisors in a 81 F-250 4x4. It worked pretty good until I started up a steep incline while hunting. The Mini 14 fell out and landed on me and my passenger with a sound thump. I'll never do that again!! Yes the strap was fastened. Keep that rifle behind the seat or in a mount in front of the seat under your legs.
I got mine for three bucks at wal mart in the hunting section, i use it for my umbrella and fishing pole and also hats. Works good and they have about 4 colors.
I don't like the racks that display your gun in the back window, they are an open invitation to theft of your gun. My brother lost a Winchester 1300 this way. As mentioned above, check state and local laws first concerning this matter.
