I have a 2008 Ford F450 6.4 TD and it was recently in a light front end collision, air bag in driver side deployed and the intercooler and front grille were replaced on the front.
Now we finally have it all back together and it will not turn over and the key will not come out of the steering column. We checked for power at the starter when the key is turned on and there is nothing. The gear selector moves without having to apply the brake(can't remember if it was that way before) from P-R-N etc. Any one have any ideas? or similar
The truck has full accessory power and the batteries are fully charged and new. Checked all fuses in the fuse panel and they were good. Seems like an issue at the steering column or key tumbler.
Sounds like whom ever towed the truck to its destination after the accident strong armed the gear shift lever into gear and broke the park/neutral safety switch. If this is not working, the truck will not start. Also, the brake/shift interlock solenoid is apparently broke, as you can shift without putting the brakes on first.
Thank you, I took the column apart and found that the brake/shift solonoid was in pieces. Any idea where the neutral safety switch is? Is it on the column or under the dash?
