I am going to be rebuilding my aod my first rebuild i will do to much at the shop has anyone done it on a aod and do you think it is super hard i will buy a kit manual pump and torque converter anything else i need. And i only have a limited income being only 15.
pictures are good, take notes on sequence during tear down, ie: if you had to do X before Y, you'll need to do Y before X on the rebuild .. also, don't rush, but do it as quickly as you can (ie: have all parts, gaskets, etc ready to go), even your young memory will fade fast ..
(ps .. at least through some commas in when you post, was a bit hard to read .. damn kids.. LOL)
Haynes manual for Ford automatic transmissions has a pretty good section for the AOD, with lots of pictures. I used the same section for an 4R70W from a 97 F150 and the pictures were a great help.
An Arbor press makes the removal of retaining rings for spring packs on two pistons inside the transmission cake. I cant remember what the pistons are at this time though. The lip seal protectors are a great idea as most rebuild kits only give you one set of piston seals, if you mess up that seal you have to wait until the transmission specialty shop is open before you can get a replacement.
does anyone have the lip seal protectors because being only fifteen i cant spend 150 on the lip seal protectors i will send you money to send them and once done send them back thanks.
