timing/dieseling problem
have posted on this topic before but could not find it so here goes my update.
since I last posted concerning problem w/ dieseling on my f100 1973/360 pick up I was informed that the source could probably have been the plugs, the condenser, points or the distributor cap. Well, all these have been replaced and still got the same problem.
My dad and I ran a compression check and discovered low pressure in cylinder 4 and 6.
Also, there appears to be a leak between the in-take and the head. We discovered this when we blew propane near the seal and the engine reved up automatically as it had when we blew propane directly into the carb.
The carb and in-take are edelbrock. the engine was rebuilt about 6 k miles ago (I've owned the pick-up for about 400 miles). Supposing the rebuilt was done appropriately I'm hoping a replacement of the gaskets between the carb and the manifold and the manifold and the head will do the trick and keep my pick-up from dieseling and keep it in time as well.
What are your thoughts on this?
