steering draglink hits shock.64 f-10

I flipped my axle and installed new shocks. Now when I turn the wheel the draglink hits the shock..? Dug out the old shock that was used before the axle flip and it was hitting also. The guy I bought the truck from had the column and pitman arm a little cobbled up but with the parts that came with the truck I thought I had it the way it should be. Does anyone have a picture of this area on there 64 that I could compare? How close does your shock get?I also noticed my threaded turn stops go under the axle if you turn it far enough? My shock hits way before that.Any help would be greatly appreciated. OOps I meant f-100 not f-10

I posted that this combo will need a custom Drag link last week. Did you use the stock steering box and pittman arm?

Mine was hitting before the flip ! ? Do you have to modify the steering arm and the draglink? Looks like if I make my shock mounts almost vertical that everything will clear. Still does not explain why it had been hitting before. Also not sure about the steering stops. I noticed after looking on ebay that a 50s chevy pickup draglink is only 12.5 inches long, maybe too short,I am not sure yet.

By about five inches. Should be comewhere around 16 to 17 inches long with the box centered.

Are the shocks on the stock axle mounts and towers?

You need to make a custom bent (fabricated) Minimum .125 wall DOM tubing drag link. Use up to 1964 7 degree tie rod ends and threaded left and right welded in thread bungs for adjustment.

You can also drill out the tapers in the pittman arm and steering arm and use Heims with 5/8 24 bolts and pinned castle nuts. ( once you do this though there is no return to stock)

If you use the stock drag link and bend it, it makes it too short.

My draglink is 14.5 center to center. Yes,stock shock mounts. Thanks for the ideas on the drag link. Right now with my wheels centered the pitman arm is angled back about 1.5 inches (from not being straight down).Seems it is 1.5 inches too long.
