Well, I have the chance to buy a 1985 F350 1-ton Dually off my scrap yard. I know that the 460 has water in the oil and the PO said the trany was slipping. It has no gas tank and I would have to dig to locate the Radiator and trans cooler.
My Bro-in-law is thinking he may want it but I wonder is the truck worth anything more than parts.
There is rusted out places in the floor pans and bed but other than that it is in great shape.
Would a 351 bolt into it? I was going to buy it for parts for my truck or just to swap the 6.9 and trans out of mine into it.
My cost would be ruffly $450.
Oh and the Kid that scrapped it took the keys...
Would it be more trouble than it's worth for a guy wanting a good "cheap" truck?
No crew-cab. Some of the other guys and myself are going to get parts off of it this weekend. Ended up somebody cried that we are not technically supposed to buy things off the yard to one of the bigger wheels. They weren't allowed to buy something a few months ago.
Problem is that guy likes to buy low and then sell the same thing back to us when the price goes up.
You know what they say about one guy ruining it.
There is a 6.9 out there I am going to get next week.....
