Heyy yall i would like to put a bigger fuel tank with out sacrificing bed space. I am thinking about purchasing the f26e from rockauto.com. The original tank in the trucks is the same in the 1990 and the 1995? I am thinking they should be. thsanks
Without knowing what the F26E tank is, have you looked into the Bronco tank upgrade? It's a 37 gallon tank, and apparently rather easy to install in place of our factory 19-gallon things.
That tank looks a lot like the one I am running, but no specs came up when I searched, just a picture and cost.
The only down side, you can't leave a spare tire under the tank where it is stock.
Filling it up when it is empty.
My rear tank holds 44 gallons if I fill it completely full from completely empty, so 170 dollars in the rear tank.
If you have skid plates under the tank, they hold the tank in, longer bolts out of all thread and you are good to go.
If you have tank straps instead of skid plates, you will need longer straps.
That is only 5 gallons more than my stock tank on my Bronco. I will tell it is nice having the extended range with a tank that big. Thing is I usually only run it half empty before filling it.
I was gonna use the back tank as a primary tank and the front as a back up. I have no spare tire whatsoever never had one in either of the trucks I also have skid plates under the truck. so how much longer will the bolts need to be? Also i was told the bronco tank upgrade is only 33 gallons?!
The stock bronco tank is 33 gallons. They also have an upgrade that is about 38 gallons. You can get the tank skid plate off a junkyard bronco cheap, then you wouldn't need the longer bolts if you use the stock size tank. Also if you go that route buy the plastic tank. I got lucky when I bought my tank for mine whe nit was a gasser and went cheap. It is not zinc coated (What can I say I can be cheap lol) and will not have to worry about the diesel eating and feeding the zinc through my fuel system.

would you still happen to have the part number for the plastic tank. I can only seem to find the metal one?
yeah, but then your already half loaded running an empty bed lol.who wants to carry so much fuel weight and reduce your payload some.
you guys driving around in these HD rigs for fun or what lol.
id rather just stop and get fuel.gives me an excuse to grab a cup of joe.
when i don't find the time to stop for a cup of joe&fuel, that's when i'll just hang it up and quit.

The problem in my case is that I prefer driving at night (less idiots on the road), and because I get best fuel economy at around 55 mph I tend to avoid freeways where even little Aveos try to run me over - there ain't that many fuel stations on back-country roads that are open after midnight, so I always carry enough fuel to run halfway across state if needed.
