Have an 05 KR 6.0. Have tried to calibrate the compass several times step by step as per manual. It appears to be 180 degrees out. Going North it reads South and so on. Can anyone enlighten me on how to get this thing to read correctly??
I can't offer you any direct help, but there are many various years of F Series trucks that have issues with the compass. The most common problem seems to be the compass being stuck in the north position and or intermittently getting stuck in CAL mode or simply not working at all.
Let your post stew here for a bit and hopefully someone with more knowledge on the subject will stop by and be able to help you out.
I have noticed my compass will automatically calibrate itself from time to time and it will tell me to drive slowly in a circle and then it will state calibration is done. I’m assuming doing it manually would give you the same instructions, but it looks to me you already know your compass is off and is pointing 180 degrees off, so why would you be concern with calibrating a stinking compass. Seriously follow the manual instructions and do it in an open area and watch the instructions on the information center and it will probably work right for you. If not try it again and this time hold your mouth right. (Other words bite your lip & pray). Good Luck!
Mine quit too. I have a 2003 SD250 and the overhead console compass has been acting up for about a year now. It usually is completely blank...no direction...simply empty.
Driving in a circle does not help at all. It might occasionally display a direction but it does not change when I'm on a curve or in a turn. Anyone out there know of a fix? The assistant service manager at Astro Ford in D'Iberville Mississippi said I had to order the entire overhead console as a complete unit (I'm assuming for big $$$'s)...but I'm wondering if the info module can be changed out w/o also changing the o/h console.
