Fuel Regulator Removal

I am finally getting around to replacing the fuel reg in my 93f150 5.8L and want to know if any speacial tools are required? It looks like there is one of them funky connectors that attach the steel braided fuel line to the regulator, or am i seeing things?

Thanks-

The fuel pressure regulator should be fairly simiple to replace. I think I replaced mine in only a few minutes. I thought it was the same on 5.0 and 5.8, but maybe its not.

Removal
1. Remove vacuum line at fuel pressure regulator.
2. Remove two Allen head retaining screws from regulator housing.
3. Remove fuel pressure regulator, return seal and both O-rings. Discard return seal and inspect O-rings for signs of cracks or deterioration.
4. If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage fuel pressure regulator or fuel supply line O-ring surfaces.

Installation
1. Lubricate fuel pressure regulator O-ring with 10W-30 or equivalent oil meeting Ford specification WSE-M2C903-A2.
2. Make sure O-ring surfaces of fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection supply manifold are clean.
3. Install O-rings and new return seal on fuel pressure regulator.
4. Install fuel pressure regulator on fuel injection supply manifold. Tighten two retaining screws to 3-5 N-m (27-44 lb-in).
5. Install vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator.

Did you have to remove a large C-clip? Guess I should go to the parts store and look at a new one and that would probably give me a good idea whats required to disassemble it.

You do not disconnect the "C" clip (safety clip) or the unhook the fuel return disconnect from the fuel rail.

Look at the above images.
