After 3 years and finally getting a garage I have finished my 300. It is in a 1975 Ford F100 w/3 spd 2wd shortbed. It has been bored over .50 over w/390 pistons. 240 head w/harland sharp roller rockers and hardened push rods. comp cams 260 k kit. Offy C intake w/ edelbrock 500cfm carb & edelbrock electric fuel pump. hedman header w/ dual cherry bomb out the side in front of rear tire. Mallory unilite dist w/ hyfire igntion & taylor wires. fully welded alluminum radiator. Started it up today and it just purred no adjustments yet, knock on wood. I built the valve cover, throttle linkage & return spring, fan shroud and another intake that I will try to use eventually. I know I dont write on here alot but I am always on here looking for information. Thank you for all the information that has helped me build this. hopefully I can help with any questions that may come do to this post. I will try to post more pictures. thanks again
Very nice! I like the custom throttle bracket valve cover.
It is a job very well done. I'm guessing that with the 240 head and 390 pistons your CR is close to 10:1? I'll bet it really sounds healthy too! Did you have any head work done? P&P?
I interviewed the owner of Clifford Performance, and he said that distributor is the best made. Good choice.
All in all, it is a beautiful engine with a lot of trick features. Do you mind if I use a couple of shots for an article in True Blue Trucks magazine?
IM me with your name and vehicle year, and I'll attach your info to the photos.
I am the type of person that doesnt like to have other people do my work and I have never p&p before so i just port matched the head and called it good.
Fantastic, cool , inspiring. I love it that most 240/300,6 cyl. owners don't just bolt on. They build, create, envision. I know we have a limited niche and relatively little support from after market. Most faced with that would just get another power plant and swap it in. Great work, thank you for the pics. OBCB

Reason: P.S. what is the gauge in the center of the firewall?
Thanks for all the positive feedback. A labor of love I guess. I have been buying parts and storing them for 3 years. I run a sheetmetal shop for a heating company. I run a 20 ft plazma table so it is a little easier for me to cut parts, but anyone can build these things at home. The valve cover was a easy piece to make and a lot cheaper then a clifford valve cover. we were kind of slow so I sat down and started to build a intake. right now I am building 3 more top pieces to except 3 2lb , 2 4 bls & 6 1 bls. something I can change out when ever i want. It makes my wife happy when I dont spend money, so I build it. I am sure some of you know what I am talking about. I was going to bulid a 390 but I thought I would look and see if there were parts for 300 and found this forum and the rest is history. If anyone wants to build there own valve cover I have a stack of the bottom flanges w/holes cut sitting in my shop. thanks again

Excellent, Ab. Fab., Marvelous, Bleedin Brill & Wicked!!!!!
Would you be so kind as to post Pix of the Mechanical Throttle Linkage you built, drawings you used in the design stage,
a list of Parts you used & where you acquired them, thank'ee.
And what's the Parts number for the Mallory Unilite dist?
Very, very nice. Although I don't currently have any around my place, I'm a fan of all the seven main bearing sixes including the 200. In the past I've built a few that caused me to wear out hood hinges due to having to prove to so many people that it was a six.
If you're interested, you might do some googling about a fellow named Ak Miller. He was a Ford six modifier in the late sixties, early seventies with lots of magazine articles to his credit. This engine would have done him proud.
The only thing that I would change would be the porting. I wish I could have been near to port the head for you. It responds very well to port work.
Again, great job! Please show us the truck it's going in when you get to that step.
Excellent craftsmanship it is a thing of beauty. It is what I have envisioned mine To look like. Hopefully when the time comes to build mine there will an aluminum head available.
"If anyone wants to build there own valve cover I have a stack of the bottom flanges w/holes cut sitting in my shop."
I would be very interested. How many $?
Why is your valve cover so tall, because of the roller rockers?
"right now I am building 3 more top pieces to except 3 2lb , 2 4 bls & 6 1 bls."
I would be very, very, very interested. I had entertained the idea of using an EFI lower mani and 6 Webers for my Roadster build.
Vids and any more info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all the interest in my engine. The dis. is a Mallory unilite/vacuum advance part# MAA-4763101. They also make a mechanical advance. $350.00 to $400.00. I bought mine brand new at swap meet $100.00. I probably would have never bought it but was cheep. The valve cover is 4.5" tall for roller rockers and it straight on both sides. if you take a straight edge down the intake/ exhaust side there is just enough room to make a straight valve cover. the flange is built to come in and out with the roll on the head. I dont have the equipment in my shop to do all the rolls of the valve cover on the 1 side. so I inprovised. the flange is .25 inch steel so it doest bend when you tighten it down. The throttle linkage is made of a 1" piece of gas pipe that I pressed some bearnigs into then got a .5" piece of round stock slid it through the bearings and welded the down brackets to it. I used 2 althread couplers (1.5" long nuts) and 2 pieces of all thread. 1 piece of all thread I welded the carb clip to the end and the other piece just screws into the coupler and is double nuted then slips threw hole in gas pedal linkage at wall and then double nutted again to stay on gas pedal linkage. I will post pictures after work. thanks
