Hey there.
First off, what I have now is WAY too loud. 302, Holley 4 Barrel, Edlebrock intake, FlowTech long tube Headers, Crane large race Cam with cherry bombs exiting on each side right before the rear tires on each side.
It is just straight up loud. I want something with a quiet rumble during idle, and a little noise during acceleration. Suggestions on what mufflers to use, or something to tie in to quiet her down?
I want significantly over all quieter. I would like a low deep rumble during idle and some noise at higher rpms. I live in a pretty small tight neighborhood and get up at 4:30am to head to work. I plan on this being my daily driver, otherwise she would be about perfect. lol.
I like the cheap turbo mufflers they sell at Autozone. They have a rumble, and will get loud if you get down on the engine. But they are alot quieter than glasspacks.
If you want the next level of quiet, I would get a "sound solution" stock looking muffler that Walker makes. Believe or not these things are pretty loud also, I am not happy with them on some of my stock exhaust cars I have installed them on, where I want a stock quiet exhaust system. So they may be the quietest solution, but still give you some noise.
Any muffler you install will be louder than normal because of your headers. You can see the Autozone turbo muffler hanging down in this picture.
I have chery bombs turbos on my f250 ,they sound stock at idle And have a nice roar when you mash it as well.I had thrush turbo's on an old car and they were loud, maybe they have changed the design.

I like the Flowmaster 44 series. They are quieter at an idle and quieter running unless you really get on them then they have the nice throaty sound to them. Put them on a friend of mines truck (he's 65) and he loves them. Not to load so he can hear his music and talk to people in the truck comfortably but its got a nice sound outside the truck and when he gets on it.
