New Truck
Hi guys, bought a truck on the 6th. Drove it home 60 miles with no problems, however, I stopped for gas and noticed the rear diff leaking. How would I know if it needs rebuilt, or just a new gasket and fluid? I've cleaned all the gunk and dirt off of it, and can't see any signs of leakage. Might just be it's out of fluid too. But I'm planning to take the cover off and check the inside, but are there telltale signs to say that it needs rebuilt? Any advice is appreciated.

Is it making any noise? it's highly unlikely it's in need of being rebuilt, at the very least i would pull the fill plug and top it off with some 80w90 and just keep an eye on it for awhile.

I haven't heard any noise coming from it, but maybe I should stand outside while someone else moves it to see if I can hear anything then. I'm also wondering what should be the priority to fixing it up? Seems to run well, but I need to get the emissions tested too, but it doesn't seem to smoke that much.
