I made a post not too long ago with this problem. At first the torque converter would randomly unlock around 45-50 mph, but i was driving through some slushy roads and figured it was extra drag causing it to shift down. Now it still does it. It happens anywhere from 45-70 mph and just randomly unlocked for a few seconds. Even happened at 30 mph yesterday. About two months ago it would unlock when I used my right turn signal but it stopped doing that after a day so i didnt worry about it. Any ideas what might be causing this? I just got a new torque converter put it about two months ago.
My truck would do that while i was towing my boat. The wiring on the boat trailer was screwed up. When I would hit the brakes or use my turn signal it would unlock. Are you by chance towing anything?
Check your wiring at the accumulator for bad spots. Check to ensure that the pins are clean and free of water. Put some dielectric grease on the outer sealing area of the connector. Check the purple wire w/yellow stripe for issues. make sure your pcm is sealed.
Passengers side of the transmission pan locate the wiring harness connector and the wire the is purplpe w/yellow stripe. Check to ensure that there is no grounding of the wire via bad insulation. Carefully remove the connector and check for moisture. Dry it out well and use some dielectric grease to seal the the inner edge of the connector. The pan covers the accumulator and seloniod packs. Reason: mo info
Does anyone know how this turned out?
Today when I turned on my right turn signal, the Torque Converter would unlock.
Did it to me a couple months ago with right turn signal also. Guy at work was following me and told me my left tail light was out, it was early morning and dark outside. Bulb was bad, replaced it and all is well .. go figure.
Haha, Oh my!
Well my left tail light is still working, but not the brake/turn-signal on the left rear.
I'll start with that.
LOL, for some reason I can't stop laughing.
Well, I replaced the bulb, and problemo solvo.
I still think it funny though.
Left rear turn light goes out, right turn signal unlocks torque converter. LMAO.
For some reason the torque converter can get cranky if you have a burned out brake or turn signal bulb. So that is always an easy first thing to check if you start having problems. If you have LED's installed they can cause problems too unless you put a resistor in the wiring to simulate the current draw of an incandescent bulb.
