Monday the 1st of Feb I got a flat tire on my truck. I had to get a new tire but I discovered the flat in the parking lot at work and no one got hurt.
Thursday the 4th, the battery went dead on the Expedition. It's been acting up and I was delaying the inevitable. It died at home and no one was stranded.
Wednesday the 10th, my basketball hoop fell over on the Expedition denting the hood pretty bad. I have great insurance and it will be repaired / replaced for only $100 out of my pocket.
Thursday the 11th, I was driving to work and I was just behind a Dodge stratus when the left front wheel/tire came off the car and bounced across the road right in front of me. No damage to anyone and the driver was able to control his car.
Saturday the 13th, I was driving to work and I was half way across an icy interstate overpass when a Jeep in the oncoming lane skidded, jumped the concrete median and skidded around in my lane only a few car lengths in front of me. Again, no one hurt but significant damage to the Jeep.
I'm not complaining, I actually consider myself to be very lucky as it all could have been worse.
Actually, I was thinking you should be playing the lottery. You have to ride the lucky streak. Truthfully, though, I think you just choose to count your blessings instead of looking at it like "why me?" You're noticing the silver lining in those small incidents. I Think we all come closer to death and injury on a daily basis than we realize, you just happened to notice what might have happened had you been a few feet further along when the Jeep skidded into your lane (for instance).
Be thankful for the small things.
