I was wondering a couple things.
What are the size of the speakers in the front and rear doors on a supercab and has anyone here installed a subwoofer in your truck. If so what did you use to get the job done?
I'm having a hard time finding many options other then a cabinet with cup holders for behind the center console.
I ask because it is time to put some real sound in my truck as I will be doing quite a few mods over the next couple months to my truck which include fixing the dipstick seal, valve cover leak (minor), passenger side donut seal, Canopy and a few other things, nothing to crazy though.
The speakers are 6x8 IIRC.This may help.....Door panel removal
I changed the internal oring on the oil pan by using a 50cal.bore brush to hold the flange while removing the nut.Go ahead and buy a new nut and oring because the nut is pretty cheezy and could break.I tied a safety wire on the bore brush so it would not have a chance to drop in the pan.Good luck and take your time.It can be done, several on here have done it.
the rears are not in the door, they are in the bacl cab corner, and both are 6x8. I just added the rears to mine this year, easy job, good luck, I put in 4 Infinity's.
Yea, mine or in the rear suicide doors. I'm looking at replacing them with some Polk Audio speakers plus my truck already has amps driving the speakers which may or may not be why they are blown, lol.
In regards to the O-Ring, trust me I'll be taking my time doing it. Thinking about it makes me nervous as it is but when the time comes I'm not taking any shortcuts. Last thing I want to do is post on here and let you guys know how badly the thump noise sounds.

The E99's had them back there but anything L99 and later they are in the doors...

Well this should confuse you guys a bit then. My truck is a E99 but the speakers are in the doors. Maybe my truck was one of those trucks that was starting to cross over to the dark side?
Anyhow. In regards to putting the speakers under the rear seat I just don't think there is enough room and I don't think that cabinet would fit without handing out and collecting anything that was trying to fall to the floor. I also already have a 10 JL Audio W3v2 that I planned on putting to use, though I don't have to and chances are a new speaker would sound better I am on a budget and trying to save money. We just have a lot of bills to pay off, LOL.
BTW, how do those 6X8 kickers sound? They look pretty good and I'd be half tempted to buy a couple sets with the deal they were offering, "A Free Amp with 2 set purchase"
Edit: Keep in mind, when I ask "Do they sound good" I'm asking because my ears or sensitive to sound distortions, lost frequencies, lack of frequency response. I can actually hear things that most people don't and that sometimes includes dog whistles.
i'll get a pic up of my sub box when I get a chance, I have 1 10 JL w3 (or maybe w7? I cant remember) in a simple custom box. the Amp for the sub and the amp for the speakers are in the back part of the seat. I went with infinity reference componants in teh front doors, and waiting to do my rear ones for the stockers to blow out. The componants are really nice because they give you great sound quality and really fill anything out. For the most part my system is not a "thumping" system but it does sound good, and if i turned up the power to the sub i'm sure it would hit a lot harder. the fit is tight, but i have some spacers under the seat and it works fine for me

I bought 2 pairs of these speakers from Crutchfield back in October. Crutchfield says that they don't fit my '99, but they fit fine. I really like them. I'm no audio expert so I really couldn't tell you much about distortion or frequencies. I just know I like the way they sound. The one thing is when I bought them they were $50 pair, not $130 like they are now. Amazon has them for $69 a pair though.
A really really like these speakers. I have set up many stereos and i have run many different speakers and these are at the top of my list. I have played everything from Pantera to Dwight Yoakam at the loudest it will go and they have never distorted or lost quality.
good to know. I'm still tempted to get the Polks but everone's input has me second guessing polk and thinking of giving the Kickers a shot.
I'll look up further reviews and specs on the kickers. Thanks for the input.

Polk Audio are VERY good speakers, two 6x9,and two4" door speakers in my Freightliner,1500 watt PowerAcustic amp pushing two Kicker Comp VR 12s....unbelievable sound.
I have the exact same truck, early 99 extended cab, and I redid the whole stereo system about a year ago. All my speakers were in the doors too (Elemental Designs). I cut holes for 6.5 components and bought mounting plates off of ebay for the ford doors. It was a direct cut and install in the back doors, but I had to watch the spacing for the windows in the front. I also installed the JL audio stealth box for the center seat. I am pushing all the speakers with a Alpine PDX 5 channel amp.
I was in the same boat as you with that little back seat with practically no room under it. I installed all 4 crossovers for the components under the seat, as well as the amp and none of it hangs out. After months of research, I found that this would be the best setup for a stealth install with our lack of room in our early 99s. Good Luck!
I just hate to give up the storage in me center console. I use that thing like crazy plus it would be nice to have cup holders in the back because quite often I'll have 2 or maybe 3 other people with me instead of 4. Also I don't think I'd like having the sub right next to my side due to the fact that it would probably be vibrating my gut if I was blasting the music and jammin out. Granted it's not very often that I do that but every now and then I get a wild hair and I'll jam out for about 30 minutes but that's about all I can take.
