I am getting confusing messages about which carb to use on a a 351w . have installed a comp cam (w/duration 218 intake 224 exhaust and a lift .43 intake, 500 exhaust)
Most sources (including""how to rebuild a small block ford" ) recommend a 600-650 cfm for a 351w. but summit racing lists an edelbrock combo air gap intake and an 800 cfm carburetor. I was going to purchase a 600cfm carb but I already have a good carter 750 cfm carb.
I also plan to install edelbrock alum. heads
Need some advice on the correct carb for a street rod
The 600cfm carb is perfect for a 351 with that cam. That 800 is good for 7,000 rpm runs on a 351. FWIW, the 500 and 600cfm Edelbrocks have the same size venturis but use different jets/rods/pump nozzles.
If you want to save a few bucks, Summit's Stage 3 intake manifold is an air gap knockoff. Their Stage 2 is a Performer RPM knockoff...
