I just got back from picking up a 7.3 with a 2x ZF5 attached to it. It looks like the war wagon will get OD. these are enough weight swinging to notice it on the road. lol
This setup has 105,000 miles and was a friends, so I know the tranny was working well.
The 7.3 has a blown headgasket and got hot (possible cavititation) but I now have the rockers Ive been wanting for my dually plus the harness to upgrade to late model style glow plugs, Plus an extra cam to send typefour for the custom grind.
It looks like I will have to move the crossmember for the tranny mount back about 2 inches and shorten the jackshaft the same, not too bad to gain another gear and keep my 4.10 ratios.
Yea I will pull the heads and see if it is obvious. but I will probably use the parts on one of my 6.9s any way. The pump and injectors I can use on my only 7.3 as this one still cranks and runs good it just has compression in the water.
Finally got off the computer and played with the war wagon a little yesterday.
removed the bed and tooh a ton of metal off the frame. lol everything was tied together starting at the trailer hitch. I would have felt sorry if anybody would have ever rearended me. lol
I probably removed 300 pounds of iron.
and got the new bed sitting on it. I have decided to just swap the front clip and doors instead of the cab as the 4x4 didn't come with shoulder straps and the 2X cab did.

holy mother of god star lol.what where you hauling on that sucker!?
Well the two pieces of channel right behind the cab is the mount for the winch. The 12 inch channel in the middle which is actually double between the frame was the gooseneck hitch, the 12 inch channel across the lower frame with the square tubing sticking up through the bed was where the stinger for a wrecker slid in and tied to the gooseneck hitch so it couldn't twist with a load plus the reese hitch tied in to the underside of it and was welded solid to the bumper which the sling pinned on. lol
It might have been a little overkill but with bearly 400,000 miles nothing ever give or bent and had to be touched since the day I installed it all. What you couldn't see in the picture was the air tank I had to remove before the bed came off and the winch mount inside the bed. I might get 2or 3 more miles per gallon when I get it back together. lol
