well i have an 1989 f250 xlt lariat that needs a new motor. currently a 302 in it with a jasper transmission. im lookin to put a 351 or possibly a 460 does anyone know what will bolt up to that without welding new mounts and getting new transmission? thanks
a 351w motor will bolt right up to the tranny. I think you may need different motor mounts though. A 460 is a whole nother animal. You would need a different tranny to start. With any other swap than a 302 you will need another computer along with alot of other stuff

Save yourself a headache and just rebuild your 302 with performance parts for some nice HP
I am definately more of a 302 guy then a 351 guy, but there is an application for both engines.
I use my half ton trucks pretty lightly, and the 302 is the PERFECT engine for my application (in these years of trucks, next gen the 4.6 is perfect)
I would sit back and think about how you use the truck and what you want to get out of the truck, then decide.
You can swap a 300, 302, 351 pretty easily though, with using most of the same parts from your current truck.
For a 460 its not impossible (from what ive read) it just takes a little more work and parts!
