Look behind the driver rear wheel area close to the spare tire ~ 12" from the bumper... You should have a fairly thick harness and a nice big harness junction. IIRC it should be some what square. You can kinda follow the harness from that area and confirm that it is going to the trailer tow receptacles. Disconnect the harness there, then recheck your voltages at the brake controller harness (under the dash.) See if any of your findings change.

i mean what were the results to the test i told you in post #9, doing those test first would of proved the bpp was not bad in the first place...

oh yea any check the voltage for the trailer brake lights while hitting the brakes, in your case it should be 6 but its supposed to be 12, it will get us one step closer though

I did that a couple of weeks ago and the problem was still there. If I can not figure out what the problem is I am probably going to do what RV-Tech suggested and cap the wire off and run a new one from the bpp.

So i just noticed last night that my third brake light on the cab of my truck is very dimly lit when the brake is not hit then lights up fully when hit. I believe that this is another result of my issue. I am back feeding somewhere I just need to tear into it deeper.

Man, when you start getting crazy things happening, you are usually looking for a grounding problem somewhere. On RVs, I start by redoing the battery/chassis grounds, but sometimes I am amazed where I end up. Electronics go nuts with bad grounds.

Good hunting,

Steve

Try your hazard flashers. Maybe while they are on, retest your brake controller voltages. Sounds more and more like the multi-function switch.

I will start to go through tomorrow and clean some of the grounds as well as check the voltage with the hazards on. Thanks for all your guys help. I hate troubleshooting DC!
