A 1986 F250 4x4 6.9 with a bad injector pump.
$500 I haven't went and looked yet, but he says other than the injector pump and a shredded seat it is in good shape. I'll know more after 5pm tonight. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, thoughts or general input about this truck. It will either be a fixer or a parts truck for my 1980.
It's going to be risky, since you cannot apparently hear it run. If you want to roll the dice and assume the engine is good, I believe you will like the diesel engine, I like mine in my 89. It's a little bit different animal, but if you are willing to read, read, read, and learn how to work on them, they are a very good engine. A good place to start learning about them is the "pre-powerstroke diesel" section on this board.
I am in my second semester of diesel school so I am hoping to just tow it to the school and make it a class project. At the very least it will give something to learn on with very little investment. Worse case use some of the body parts and sell off the rest. Just ordered Haynes manual and another service manual from Amazon. I think I may already know I am going to buy it. lol I just need to negotiate a better price..
