2000 AOD Park Paw

I have a 2000 F350 with 208000 miles on it. While I was gone last week a guy driving it all of a sudden couldn't put it in park. When you go past reverse the shifter stops suddenly and won't go on into park. I pulled the cable off at the transmission and the shift lever has NO problem going in to Park. Does anyone know if you can get to the park paw through the pan or will the trans. have to come out. I am wondering if the paw may have gotten bent. Driver does not eleborate as to what he was doing at the time of the problem. It was being used on a snow plow. Give me some ideas what I am going to be in for.

Thanks Coop

Sounds like the guy screwed up the safety interlock in the steering column (must apply brakes to take truck out of Park), not the transmission.

Thanks for the reply but I think you misunderstood my situation. When I removed the shift cable at the transmission, the gear shift worked perfectly. I could go from Park to Low and back again with ease, no problem.
