Sweet thanks for the imformative post. I'll pull the filter out and take a look. I've replaced the filter before but didn't look at the screen. Thanks!
I was checking out the electric fuel pump post and in the first pic where the 2 metal lines go into the brass looking fitting is right around where i was seeing some fuel smelling moisture. Is there something under the IP that could be leaking? If so can i simply remove the injector pump and take a look? I've never removed one of those before. Thanks!!
The sensor that detects that the filter is fouled is a known weak spot for a leak. There is a cheap way to over come that leak if you need it we can supply more detial. There is another filter insdie the chamber where the dirty filter sensor is attached. Check out this thread for more: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-problems.html
Thanks for the link it was very interesting. Who knew algae could grow in diesel ....i didn't lol! I bet my orings are shot to hell it does smoke like a freight train when its cold out.

If I change the orings out here sometime is there a way to clean the injectors by hand to get alittle more life out of them? I was thinking a diy rebuild. HaHa!
I read a thread recently where someone pulled their injectors and soaked them in PowerService Diesel Kleen (gray bottle) for about 10 minutes.
I've also read of people filling the fuel bowl with Diesel Kleen, putting a filter (in your case new filter) back in and taking off. Should get the injectors nice and clean. I just started running Power Service (white bottle w/ anti-gel). I didn't notice a huge difference in mileage, but the engine did seem to idle a bit smoother. Increases in mileage this time of year are hard to track with the temperature swings.
Living in a cold climate for half of the year, I can say that cold has a BIG impact on mileage. I've seen my mileage plummet from almost 18 to as low as 12. I continue to debate whether I want to order a 203* stat from Dieselsite. The last time I tried to change my stat, I cross-threaded a bolt and ended up snapping the head off it. The new water pump with later set me back about $600 that I was not expecting.
That's exactly what I'm afraid of this time. If I order a 203*, I may as well order a new flange. I can see mine is rusting towards the bottom of the housing.
Ya i have had the same problems with fuel mileg too. I was getting around 20 or 21 mpg and then just a drop i know its leaking fuel, i think its leaking for the fuel pump also wwhats the fpv or what ever i would like to clean everything
