Wild idea
Wasn't sure where to post this.
I had to sell my 02 F-250 4x4 Lariat PSD due to health reasons, but enough of my sob story. My health is returning & I would like to replace it. I am not here to argue over the merits of an auto vs manual tranny, but I want another pedal & a bar sticking out the middle.
Seeing's how 6 speed PSD's are hard to find unless you shell out a ton of money or buy one with gobs of milees, I was wondering if it'd be cheaper/ cooler to put a Cummins in a 79 Ford 3/4 or 1 ton.
A guy my dad works with has a 79 crew cab 4x2 sitting behind his house. The truck looks straight & has a 351m & a c6 tranny. How hard would it be to convert it to a 12 valve Cummins with a 6 speed 4x4. I would have all this professionally done too. The only thing I might do is remove the engine & tranny. Would this cost more than it's worth? Happy Valentines day all!
It would be a lot less expensive to find a whole, cheap, Dodge diesel for the swap than just take your truck to a shop and tell em to go for it!
