Please Please Please !!! Do not get a resonator!!! You do not have a ricer. Time to play like the big boys now...
Go to your local parts store and get, two Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 series 2 1/2 inch mufflers. (center in - center out) or (center in - side out) Then bring those to your local exhaust store and have em install em for ya and just tell them that you want them coming straight out the back of your truck.
Get some nice stainless tips, and put em on the ends.
Resonators do nothing but sound like crap! The flowmaster mufflers will give you a way better sound and will sound more agressive.
Go to Flowmaster's website HERE and turn up your speakers!
They also have sounds for each of their mufflers. Click HERE to hear the Delta flow 40 series.
Again, if you get a resonator for your truck.... you will be laughed right out of the real world. Just trying to help.
I just finished installing a new exhaust on my 79 f150 with the 400m. eliminated the cat and had a exhaust guy make up two front pipes to the exhaust manifolds and installed two 28" glasspacks and finished it off with two 8 foot tail pipes straight back and it fits perfectly out under the rear bumper. 2 and a half inch through out. Sounds AWESOME!!!
Well, glasspacks are fun but they are not legal in most places. I have also heard that they don't last very long.
I would run some Flowmaster muflers with no cats.... and run the pipes right out the back. This would give a very good sound and will even increase the HP.
I like to scare the little ricers... when they pull up next to me and give there lawnmower a bit of juice, I stomp it and scare the day lights out of em! Then I leave em in the dust. Sometimes I wish I had a diesel so I can leave a nice big black cloud for em.
Glasspacks illegal? I have had them in PA, RI, and VA with no problems. I have had some troubles getting an inspection with no cats (just have to find the right place). I have had the same glasspacks on for 7 years and they sound as good as the day I put them on.
