I just replaced the DPFE sensor in my 2000 4 cyl Ford Ranger and I guess I thought that would magically reset my Check Engine Lamp. Guess I thought wrong. Can someone explain how to reset the CEL and what the
emmision testing facility means by "Drive Cycle". Sorry for being such a simpleton, 1st time I've ever worked on my own vehicle, 1st time I've ever posted on a message board. Go easy on me.
Disconnect the battery for a few mins it will reset the CEL. Then you will need to drive for awhile to get the drive cycles needed so the you can pass the test.
Here is a link to a detailed OBD-2 drive cyle, that if nothing else is wrong, should exercise & reset all of your IM monitors, so it'll pass emission testing.
