My F350 has the S542 in it and I need to do an overhaul pretty bad but I was wondering, is the 47 a much better transmission? SHould I upgrade it or just rebuild it?
It's the two different 5 speeds made by ZF. I have the early one in my 94 and thinking about finding the later one to replace it with. I really need to rebuild it soon. My son has done it in teaching him to drive a stick shift. I am about to teach our Danish exchange student in it too. I really want to have another transmission on standby and ready to go before I let her behind the wheel!
That will help. I haven't rebuilt either in about 5 years now. That will freshen the memory a little.
Our Danish girl says nobody owns a Automatic transmission at home. Yours is an auto though right. She also thought Noone else in the world could make a proper Danish. I proved her wrong on that one too. Baking is another specialty of mine.
I hope all that snow lately hasn't gotten to you too bad. I've been getting the pictures and it's worse than us.
auto trannies are quite rare in europe. they are standard in the big sleds from bmw and mercedes, but not in the common vehicles. jep, mine is equipped with an e4od.
danish language is pretty difficult. but not impossible to learn. i was never at a language school at all and some people here think im from "sønderjylland" if i'm talking danish. another proof for you to make her wrong where in denmark is she from?
this winter is pretty unusual for us. we have snow since the middle of december and no end in sight by now. main roads are good, but it is more snow expected in the next few days. the sideroads are iced and white several places. i hope spring comes soon....

Not to be harsh or mean, but this post made my day, I ams till laughing.
And in alot of parts of europe they put a restriction on your license if you test in a automatic, which can only be taken off if you take the test in a standard. Also, I heard that most americans (Who drive stick) would fail a european driving test. I know nothing but a little german. Ich Lieb Dich. And a little more, my family (Heritage) is mainly german, and some were germans so yeah I know a little. =) Hope things go well, I never tore upa tranny when I taught myself to drive stick... I can drive a Eaton Fuller 13 with no clutch lol.
