After waiting over a month to receive my radio from the geek squad (you'd think for being geeks they'd be quick to fix a $2.00 cable) I finally got it back in my truck.
One problem...
When the truck is idling, everything works fine, all the electrical works fine, all is good, radio is fine every light, speaker, window everything works.
When I rev the motor while in park, same thing as when it's idling.
Now the problem comes when I go to drive/move my truck, The radio cuts out and stays off. When I stop at a light for a few seconds it will come back on. The radio was out of this for about 2 months and all i had was the hole in the dash. At first I thought this problem was related to my windshield wipers not working, turns out that the wipers was a blown fuse, but there is no reason to why it is blown. There is no water or corrosion and my windshield doesn't leak.
Any help please? I'm showing this truck since it's for sale and I don't know what to say to the guy except I'm not selling the radio with it and the stock one is back home, 3 hours away.
I think there are a radio resistor or radio capacitor right next to the coils.....one on each side. Look on the internet and I think you will find out more.
It may be on of those are bad.
That's what I was thinking allowing more power than the radio can handle. I figure it is a resistor problem. However, this is on an aftermarket radio, Kenwood DDX512. I thought that it may be coming before the radio, something in the wiring harness like an audio relay or something is being tripped when I'm driving.
Some wild speculation after glancing through a user manual that I found online.
Assumption: This is a DVD/Receiver with many other options
From the manual
- can mute when receiving a phone call
- can mute for NAV system input
- Some functions ( I would think video) are restricted when the vehicle is moving.
Could the fine geek squad have somehow set something up wrong. The restricted operation would seem to be the most likely. It may ne somehow thinking that it's playing videos instead of just the radio.
That is a good point but all they replaced was a usb cord so there wasn't a reason for them to touch anything else. I told the guy who is seeing it tomorrow that I'm now selling my truck without the system. Problem with that is if I do go to put the stock radio in and it doesn't work I'm screwed.
