one time i drove to the bank 5 miles , turned truck off. came out went to restart, now , wait 2 start lite , and the beep beep noise when u put the key in, the lite was very faint along with the beep. of course when i turned the key to start ,nothing happens. i cleaned the batterys and cables , still faint lites and no starter engagement at all. i got a guy to jump it off his truck with jump cables hooked up still faint lites and no start.so i thought back to my days off working on outboards and got a screwdriver turned on the key, i then jumped the starter clynoid with the screwdriver and it fired right up no problem.drove it home turned it off, waited awhile put the key back in turned key started right up, have never had this problem again its been at least 1 and a half years ago. explain that. 93 f250 7.3 all stock
Could be the critters were having fun and you squashed one fiddling with them. who knows bro. Might have been a loose wire, poor connection, just you getting in there maybe fixed it, no clue sorry! Maybe someone has a similar experience!
For some reason the selonoid wasn't making contact. I have had this happen quite a few times over the years and it may never happen again or may start happening more often, and you will have to change it. I would shine up the cables and terminals.
yeah that is what i am doing on the GP relay today. It laughed at me again this morning. I went to start and it would click but no after glow and i just bowed my head and hoped it wasnt anything major. No it wasnt, all the tinkering i have done under the hood, maybe i bumped it or something but the yellow power wires were loose again. With a lock washer they still were loose. So today i am getting them sanded gently to rough it up, spraying it with electrical dry and re attaching with new lock washer and washers. I made the mistake of putting things on it and found out they literally cook from heat. The dielectric sizzled when i did it a few months ago. Either way the welding of itself to being fixed is possible.
