Leafspring Replacement

I have a 1984 F250 that i purchased used... The truck sits level when unweighted.... When I attached my trailer the other day, the truck dropped by 2 inches...Tongue weight is approx 400-500 lbs

I had a 1993 F150 and the rear end sat up higher than the front end,... Should the 250's be the same way?

Long story short... before I add helper springs, etc... I would rather replace the springs if needed... I checked Bronco Graveyard and they are back ordered for 4-6 weeks....

Are there other sources? Are there other model springs that will fit? The springs that are currently on the truck are 3" wide and have 4 leafs in the rear....

On Bronco grave yard it shows that this truck should have 5-6 leaf pack... Also, code on the door info plate shows the spring as 5 6

Truck currently has a block under the spring... Approx 2"....

BTW... I don't mind raising the rear end a little bit if it is going to sag under weight but I am not interested in lifting the truck... I think 1-1.5" in the rear would be the max

Thoughts?

Two inches isnt bad. How much weight are you hauling? It sounds like someone may have replaced the rear springs at some point in time. Either that or they may have removed some. Personnally I would take a look at how bad the truck squats out when its loaded with as much as your going to put on there and see what you think. If you think its to much for the truck to handle then look into getting new leaf springs or helper springs.

I think someone took some out... Based on what info I can find, the truck should have between 5-6....

Am I better off adding helper springs, replacing the leaf springs or adding some to the pack?

Go to your local pick-a-part/u pull it and grab a pack off a F350. All the spring packs are interchangeable as long as the truck isnt a dually. I have an F150 with F250 springs in the front and rear and i believe they are 5 leaf. I recently got a set of 6 leaf F350 ones for my other F150 and with the proper blocks i can use the 7th spring. I would do that before adding helper springs or blowing a bunch of money. I got my F350 springs for $71.

Here's a link for new leaf springs and the F350's are interchangeable as long as they're not off chassis cab with dual rear wheels 1980 - 1997 Ford F250 Leaf springs - front and rear

I got my springs from JC Whitney (price was right). The rears are imports (5 leaf) but the fronts were OEM Ford springs. If i'm not mistaken, you can send um back if you're not happy with them.
