hey guys...
i just did the 6637 mod. i never had a stock air box, the PO had a cheapo AZ filter on it. i just have one problem...it seems like the inside of the hood is hitting the filter. is this common? i used a piece of 4" ehaust to couple the tube to the filter. i just cant get it any lower. seems to run WAY better now that it is breathing with out asthma. thanks for any assistance
chris
It seems to vary somewhat from truck to truck. Mine was hitting for about 2 1/2 years until we cut the back part of my airbox out recently. Now it drops down away from the hood. I would not worry about it. You are all good if you want to leave it that way.

My hood also hit the filter, I had to do a little cutting:
I got rid of the stock lower airbox/battery tray altogether and installed a passenger side battery tray on the driver's side. I had to re-drill some holes to make it work, but it works great and looks factory. No more filter rubbing/hitting the hood.
I had to use my Dremel and hack up the intake box/battery tray. Once the filter sat lower I rotated the intake tube elbow just a little bit up and now it sits nice and snug so I don't have to worry about it bouncing around when I'm off-roading.
