I had the exact same scenario play out a few months ago, in my case the ground wire had worked its way loose from the bulb socket on the front turn signal.
I had a similar problem with a new E-450 Ambulance. Took it to the dealer for repair under warranty. They worked on it for a day and determined that it was a problem with the Ambulance package install and therefore not a warranty issue. They told me to take it away and refused to work on it further and actually charged me $200.00 for not fixing it. I spent a day and a half troubleshooting it and finally found a bent pin on the instrument cluster connector. I tweaked it with an o-ring pick, plugged it back in, and all was normal. I went back to the dealer and explained what I had found. The guy shrugged his shoulders, said "So what", and walked away.
yes dealers suck in general my parents had a explorer droped off a rack and they broke things and said they didnt do it.. thankfully we forced them to review the shop tapes and they owned up... ford might be a good truck but the dealers suck.
that fixed it right up seems that there is a rust issue with the housing for the lights I pulled out all lights to grease them and PO had fixed the other ground issue as well.
