Question Bad heater core or something else?...

So I am driving to work this morning and truck is running just fine. I get into town about to work and engine starts running weird like it is chugging along. I turn into parking lot and truck just starts smoking. I park and open hood and coolant is everywhere but it was to dark to see anything else. I went out on my first break and checked all my hoses and they were all fine but radiator was dry. On lunch I went out and filled radiator and ran truck for about 10 min and everything seemed fine. I drove home and truck drove fine normal temp on highway but no heat at all just cold air. When I got about to my house I cranked on the heater and it was still blowing just cold air but engine started to chug again. I parked and opened hood and all I could see was some coolant bubbling and leaking around radiator cap. So now I am thinking maybe it is just the cap but not sure I have no problem changing heater core but seems like it will be a pain. Any i nsight on what could be going on?....

Make sure your water pump is not leaking and that all the air is out of the system. Do you have a lot of water vapor in your exhaust?
