I had the flashing OD light problem associated with my inability to upshift from 2nd gear. After a lot of suggestions/ideas from this site and another that got me frightened of a $2000 Trans. replacement I decided to spend $15 on one of the Ford Mechanics at justanswer.com/car/ford. He wasn't much help until I was able to give him the OBD codes. He then directed me to the 15 amp Fuse #23 in the fuse box Sure enough, it was blown. I replaced it and....VOILA! Trucks works & shifts like it did a week ago.

So...my next question (which the ASK Mechanic did not answer...probably wants another $15) is where should I start looking for the short/problem that caused Fuse #23 to blow? Any help???

Better than a new Tranny I guess, but I'm not out-of-the-woods yet.

What year and model is your truck?

 

Send me $15 and I'll tell you to check the O2 sensor harnesses to see if any of them are melted onto the exhaust or have been rubbing on the front driveshaft if a 4X4.

 

What would you tell me if I didn't send the $15? HA!

Anyway....thanks a lot for the tip I shall be checking all underhood and underchassis wiring tomorrow. It should be up to 20 degrees!

I do have my Owner's Manual....doesn't say much about "Troubleshooting" unfortunately.
