<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1; COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I posted Sat. in the general Super Duty and Excursion forum. Really did not make a lot of progress so here I am. Saturday morning I backed out of the driveway and pulled the shifter into drive. I did not slam it or change before I stopped. The EX would not move, engine rev but no go. Put it back in reverse and it move backwards, back to drive and this time it moves forward. The problem now being it goes forward no matter where you shift except park. Park acts like normal. Guessed that I had a linkage issue.

Visually checked everything I could and found no reason for the problems. Even got under it and watched the shift rod that goes inside the transmission turn just like it should when the shifter moved.

Figured it was something inside. Ran a scan and got engine "No Trouble Codes" and transmission "No Trouble Codes".

Next step, Pull the pan and take a look. Did that today. Fluid clean and looked just like it did the day I changed it. No parts, parts of parts or metal of any kind in the pan. Looking at the guts of the trans where the shift rod comes in. Things did not look in alignment. The thing that looks like a fourth of a thin gear had slipped towards the drivers side. Pushed it the opposite way and it lined up. It looks like everything is in its slot or proper place. Of course, I know it will not stay.

Anyone got a DIY fix? Anyone got a schematic of how those parts fit and fasten. Any help or advise appreciated.

I'm no transmission tech but I don't have $$ 3 to 5 grand to spend on it either

Thanks

could be you have some sticking solenoid valves. The tranny has quite a few of them.

Thanks Rocknut for reading and responding.

FYI ...FWIW.... A roll or spring pin that holds the through shaft in the case had worked its way out. Put in another and it appears to be fixed. No lateral shift. I'll let you know once I get fluid and filter and pan replaced.

Anyone know the torque value of the pan bolts??
