OK, the Who were a little after my teenage years, but I liked them well enough.
However, between the (I'm sure) horrible acoustics and their aging voices, it seemed not wonderful. Yes, they can still play, and they are in great shape -- for their age.
What do you guys think? I kind of hope that they shut it down soon.
As a kid from the 50's. I've seen too many former greats limp out on stage, and croak out something that hurts the eyes and the ears.
To be blunt I thought they sucked. I like them and I suppose I'm used to hearing their music that was recorded in a studio and everything was perfect conditions but they just didn't sound good at all. The stage and the lasers were kinda neat though.
Saw them live twice in Pittsburgh around '78 and '80. With and without Keith Moon.
I'd be lying if I said I remembered the concerts well from all those years ago, but I do remember being absolutely blown away by the shows. They rocked their a$$es off!
I didn't particularly care for the SuperBowl show. First, I hate lip-synching. And I absolutely abhor bad lip-synching.
I found it really ironic that they built a career around fighting the establishment (talkin 'bout my generation..") and then there they are playing the Super Bowl.
Just goes to show that for enough money, anyone can be a corporate wh*re.
Not only did they suck last night, they sold out too.
I thought it was painful to watch, and even worse to hear. The whole performance was flat and uninspired, in my opinion
I could have sworn I went to a performance of their "farewell tour" about 30 years ago .....
I think that was back in 1981, maybe?? How do they find the nursing home number of where these guys live?? Let 'em be...for the sake of our eyes and ears!!
Lights and music itself were great but when the vocals are added its more like, give these guys a wheelchair and push them offstage. Loved them dearly back in the ol`days but c`mon, there has to be a limit.
Same with the rest of these older guys. Times up,get over it
