Ford clearance lights

Has anybody installed factory clearance lights on a f350 with a sunroof? I spoke to a ford dealer and he said it wouldn't work but I'm not sure why
It is a 2008 Ford f350 superduty. I saw some information on how to do it but I'm not sure about the sunroof

I didn't add them, but I just got an 08 that has factory clearance lights and sunroof. I would think that the measurements would still be the same as ones without the sunroof. I would just look up the measurements and then measure the roof on your truck. After adding the lights on my 2 previous trucks, I am glad that this truck already had them.

I would imagine any good bodyshop would install them. We have done a few without sunroofs at my dealership and I imagine it would be pretty much the same thing with a sunroof.

The dealer told me that the mechanism for the sunroof would get in the way. I was more concerned with any extra bracing etc and getting access. I thought I would ask if anyone had done it before I went ahead and removed the headliner and found out the hard way. Thanks for the input you guys, I think I'll pull it down and take a look

Thank you, I have seen this site but it doesn't mention the sunroof. I took some quick measurements from the listed ones and if I use these measurements it looks like the lights will just fit up against the rubber seal for the sunroof. I bought a wiring harness and lights right from Ford and the parts guy said they would work with the satellite radio and the sunroof. I talked to the dealer about installing them and they really made it sound like I didn't want to do it.I just thought if someone had it could save me a lot of time pulling things apart to find out I can't do it. Thanks for the help and the quick replies, I think I'll pull down the headliner and have a quick look. Thanks again

Its not hard, just measure again and again and again and... you get the point.

I did it on my 2005 f250 but it didn't have the sunroof. I think the guys at the dealership are full of **** but it was funny when I drove through the lot I couldn't see any trucks with the lights and sunroof so I started to wonder. I've read lots of guys doing it but nobody mentioned the sunroof. Just shows that the dealer doesn't necessarily know it all as they more or less told me that I couldn't. You just get a little nervous drilling that first hole thinking that you might be missing something, I'd hate to have to go back and they say I told you so with a hole in my roof

Like I said, my truck has both. I will try tomorrow and get a pic for you and maybe some measurements.

Hey Irly:

When I asked about having them installed in my 2010 F250, moonroof etc., the dealer quoted me $700.00 big ones! So, I would assume that it can in fact be done, but at that price, I am just gonna use velcro and stick Fireflies on the truck in the warmer months

Jeffrey, if you could that would be great, but even if you could confirm how close the back of the light is to the rubber seal on the sunroof that would be great. I just want to know if they just touch, or if you could measure from the windshield rubber to the center of the lens,or the front of the lens that would be great also.I don't want to put you out but it would be awesome if you could confirm for me. Hi wk4bg8s, unfortunately we don't have fireflies up north in Canada (wish I did) but I did purchase the factory wiring harness and the Ford factory lights right from the Ford dealer and it only came to $93.00 cdn, that should only be 1/2 that in US dollars lol. It seems that the job should only take a couple of hours, so if you wanted them it should be a lot less than $700.
Thanks again for the input and if Jeff could confirm those measurements that would be great also!

I installed recon lights on my 2010 F-350 with the moon roof. Very easy job, took about three hours. There are lots of threads on this site. I just posted my thoughts on the original equip vs recon thread in the Super Duty thread.

From what I've read, I think the harness is by the kickpanel on the passenger side. My new harness came with a sattelite radio cable so I figure once I pull down the headliner I should see the old one and trace it from there.

Ok......Here is a quick pic I snapped.

It is raining outside, so I didn't get any measurements. It looks like the lights in the center are about 1/2" away from the sunroof. If it wasn't raining, I would have gotten a better pic. Let me know if I can help any more.
