I am taking my 08 f150 x-cab fx4 5.4 in for inspection next week and I want the dealership to check out my transmission. When it down shifts from 3rd - 2nd, sometimes the tranny winds up or surges than down shifts. Other times when I am accelerating slowly, the transmission slips between 2nd & 3rd gear. But nothing under hard acceleration. It doesnt do it all the time, just once and a while. Has anyone else ever experienced this?
could you give us some more information? How many miles are on the truck? When was the last time the fluid was changed? Is the truck chipped/custom tuned?
2008 ford f150 5.4 x-cab fx4 model
25,500 miles-100% stock, no mods
Never had the fluid changed, havent check the fluid though, might be a good idea. Somewhere i think i remember reading there is a TSB on this, not sure.
not too sure on the TSB, a fluid change is required at 30,000 so that might be a good idea. I would check the fluid and then start from there. There might be a reflash available for your truck to help with the shifts (not too sure tho). Take it to the dealer as you are still under warranty.
Have them flash the PCM with the newest update, my 08 did the same thing and so did a number of others; it's something goofy in the programing that they fixed, there's a TSB for it.
