Here in Western Mass, we've hardly gotten a dusting (Springfield area).
Once again the idiot superintendent canceled school, so I sat home all day and theres is less than half an inch out there now... Then my night class got canceled too. So its been a wasted day, and I'll have to spend a nice June day inside instead to make up for it. And from the looks of things, the new policy from AIC on my night class means I'll be wasting a saturday as well.

I'm pretty damn pissed!!!! For once I wish there had been a foot of snow up here. Screws up my schedule pretty bad and there is nothing to show for it.

That last batch started out as rain here, and I was glad it did.
There was so much snow on the trees, if it had started as snow I know the power would be out for days.

The rain got enough snow off the trees before the wind started blowing that only the very rural places lost power and phone service and thankfully turned 14+" of new snow into 6" of new snow.

Bad thing, the rain turned the first 14+" into 10" of ice after the temp dropped to the single digits.
At least the ice snow is not drifting, only the top 6" of new snow.

Bad thing 2, several of my regular customers out in the rural areas have no phone service, and since I did not make it there before the rain, I don't think I can plow them out now without breaking something.

May chain up all 4 and see if I can break up the ice before I drop the blade to get them plowed out.

Our 10 day forecast has 8 days snow with only 2 days clear as of right now.

The first snow was so heavy I torqued the exhaust pipe hard enough to break it, fixed that Monday finally.
And I have to replace a U joint in the rear drive shaft tomorrow before I break it.
Broke one of the 3/4" pins that hold the plow on the plow frame Saturday, that had me down for an hour.

Both storms started as rain, if that would have all been snow we would have 6 or 7 feet on the ground now.

Yesterday I was sitting in a restaurant eating breakfast at 1 PM looking out the window thinking about Al Gore.
I thought I should take a picture of the snow blowing horizontal, 15 degrees on the thermometer and the 10 foot high piles of snow around the parking lot.
Looked like global warming from where I was sitting.

Brew Keg full of coffee, box of Granola bars, 66 gallons of fuel on board, tire chains for all four and tow chains in the tool box, I am ready for what ever comes along weather wise.

2 hour cat naps once or twice a day, a full night of sleep sounds good right now.

I posted this on OBN and they nearly ripped me to shreads before reading it all the way through, I was a little too convincing. Maybe you guys will get a kick out of it:

Global warming is a misnomer. In fact our green house gas emissions are causing Climate Change. Climate Change means that overall there will be changes in temperature that allow for regional cooling that we are now seeing in some isolated areas of the globe.

This does not change the trend of temperatures and it does not change the scientific fact that we are to blame. In fact more frequent and intense storms and weather have been predicted so to be seeing extreme cold does not debunk the robustness of the case for human caused climate change.

Time is running out and our children will remember us for how we delt with this impending climate catastrophe. The time for action is now.
I was and am of course BS'ing through my teath but have studied the movement long enough to understand it better than I care to admit. Look specifically for words like "consensus", "trend", "robust"(<- my personal favorite), and "debunk". Any of those words get used and you know its taken from the same play book.

Ok with my redneck thinking is were causing it to get too hot. but we need to buy better coats. Is that what it said.

My thinking on the matter is we didn't have global warming, which we do it's just too dayum cold to think about it. Is we would still be in the ice age and i wouldn't have a diesel pickup to get the world to start warming up so I'm glad it's finally here. Now when can I dump these carharts.

If I remember I will run out to the mall and snap a few pictures tomorrow.

Where is your snow John?

That looks funny with you having less in Michigan that we have down here in WV.

My neighbor has the same setup with his little john deer tractor. Cute little thing with hydraulic steering and other goodies.

When ever there is a big dump of snow, he will plow the driveways across from his property and my dad does our part of the street with the old ferguson. Couple years ago we had to help a few people dig their trucks out (cars simply stayed where they were). My trucks stayed put till the roads were clear but the ranger walked all over it.

A lot of people in alaska have plows for their fourwheelers for their driveways, but what is funny to watch is when someone has a blower attachment instead, they are usually riding in a snowstorm. lol

Dave, if you think seeing them with less snow is funny, we've only got enough here to cover the grass. All these storms that you have been getting the last 2-3 weeks, we've had a total snow of maybe an inch. Enough rain mixed in that what snow is left has no insulating value, and the frost is getting deeper by the day with the cold night time temps.
