not a motor ?but its behind a 7.3 so maybe someone can help me on this.did any year of zf5 speeds have a place to install a speedo cable so i could run it in a earlier truck with a cable speedo.and i hear that this will fit my 460 motor.anyone ever did this swap?if not i may have a zf for sale lol

What do you have a 4X4 or a 4X2? If a 4X4 the speedometer drive port is in the transfer case up til 92, so a ZF from 87 - 97 will fit if you are going diesel to diesel. Be advised that a ZF for a diesel application will not fit a 460, or will a 460 fit a diesel.

A ZF5 from the IDI era had the spedo hole and gear for a 2 wheel drive application. I helped a buddy put one behind his powerstroke. I just got a freeze plug from NAPA to plug the hole.
Maybe if you could find an old tail shaft and tail housing it would work.
