she let me down

Well guy's and gals she let me down today. I dug her out yesterday and was ready to go to work this morning. back out the driveway and got stuck. dug it out and actually made it the 2 miles to work and got stuck i got it stuck and dug out a few times more just trying to get out of the parking lot until a guy from work drove in with his i hate to say it jeep ( i hate to say it but he saved my rear) and we got it pulled out and then i came home. I have done learned my lesson and when there's snow like this 30+ i aint going out. i probably gonna have to get new back tires cause it felt and smelt like i was at the track with all the smoke and tires spinning. i think i bit off more than my 2wd could chew. sorry for the useless and long post but i just had to say it, and i hate to say that as soon as i can it's time for a new truck for me and it will be 4x4.

Thanks
Kyler

yeah, 30+ in any 2wd is a lot of snow .. what tires did you have? .. REAL snow tires go a long way .. but if you only see that kind of snow every 10 years may not be worth it ..

I ran snows on my miata and it had the LS rear, it was good to go up to about a foot snow, where the plowing effect because it sat so low was the problem ..

I have BFG A/T's on the back and Gy tracker 2's on the front i've never had a problem with the tires sticking to anything it's just the open rear and snow piling up and digging down to pavement didn't help i will say this it wasn't a total let down i got out and got home.

snows are typically made with a softer compound than ATs .. and in most cases can be had cheaper than all season/summer tires .. also helps to keep the pressure on the low side.. if your gonna be spinning them anyway, you save the 'spensive tires for nicer weather ..

30+ snow with any 2wd is a mistake to go anywhere. Not only is it hard on the truck but its hard on your back as well having to dig and dig and dig. then your burning gas trying to get your self out. Even with snow tires on you probably would have gotten stuck. Bey hey i'm sure you had a blast in the snow... I know I would have.

it might be worth finding a new rear axle with LS and sticking it in.

like i said it's just cause i kept sliding in the snow banks. i have a line on a 91 f-150 4x4 reg cab and shortbed with 65k black and red interior for 900 and it's worth waaaay more it's been taken care of. she can back today tho i pulled two people out and been driving around all day no problem i just got stuck once more cause of a stupid idiot decided they wanted to come down the hill while i was comming up and i had to pull it over and i dug down again i had to back down the hill and go back up.

You can also just swap out the open diff with an LS unit and keep the rear end.

If I put some snow in the back bed and chains on the back tires it`s like a bulldozer in the snow!

Slap an aussie locker in the rear axle, get a set of TreadWrights and call it a day.

Ah i think i just found her limits yesterday morning that's all. i aint never had her stuck before so i didn't know how far i could take it but i know now. and im getting ready for the snow that's coming tomorrow 6-10 or 10-18 and then maybe some more on the weekend so i think we be good just got to remember to keep a light foot and let the torque do it's thing. I filled the bed up with snow so that plus my cap i think i got a crap load of weight back there the cap weighs about 350lbs, and the snow was heavy wet snow. i've thought of putting a locker in, but it's my DD so can't have any down time cept what's absolutely necessary. and i don't have that kind of money to put into it right now. im trying to save up so i can get a salvage e4od and get a shift kit put in it and throw it up in there then try to go to work on the engine.
