i have a 2003 f-150 with a 5.4 triton the intake is leaking between the cross over and intake took intake off removed cross over there is a chunck of the intake gone and the rubber seal is blown is there any way to repair this i thought i seen a post on here before about fixing this but i cant find it any suggestion
i had the same thing. the plastic edges around the o-ring seal were cracked and parts gone. i sanded the area and roughened with a file. i used some masking tape to form the inner lip of the water jacket. i mixed two part epoxy and filled in the o-ring groove, then filed flush. I eliminated the o-ring seal and made a paper gasket (gasket material) like you would have used on a 1980 manifold. Put a thin layer of RTV on both sides of the gasket and bolted the crossover tube back to the manifold... My manifold to head gasket area is o.k. i bought new rubber stock gaskets and reinstalled the manifold to the heads.. that was 6 months ago... o.k.
mine appeard that it had been hot. i saw minor cracking of the lip around the o-ring. makes you wonder if it got hot and then cracked and leaked, or if it leaked and that caused the motor to overheat and thata caused the cracks.... never found the small pieces, guess they are laying down in the bottom of the water jacket in the block. the o-ring sure was deformed bad!
